Srinagar, Dec 01 (KNO): Police in north Kashmir’s Sopore area on Monday said they have solved two separate theft cases by arresting the accused and recovering the stolen property.
According to a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Police Station Bomai received a complaint from Abdul Rashid Mir of Nathipora alleging theft of goods from his shop, Al-Fajar Departmental Store.
Following the complaint, an FIR (No. 60/2025) under Sections 305 and 331(4) of the BNS was registered and investigation began.
During questioning of multiple suspects, police zeroed in on Ghulam Mohammad Lone, son of Abdul Jabbar Lone of Yahama Handwara, on November 29.
Police said the accused confessed during questioning and disclosed that the stolen items were concealed in an orchard near the river in Nathipora. The property was later recovered from the mentioned location.
In the second case, Police Post Bus Stand under Police Station Sopore received a complaint from Ghulam Mohammad Kanjwal of Sir Syed Abad about theft of cash from his bakery shop.
An FIR (No. 268/2025) under Sections 305 and 331(3) of the BNS was registered.
Police traced and arrested the accused, Shakir Sadiq Bhat, within 12 hours from the premises of SDH Sopore. During interrogation, he revealed the location of the stolen cash, which was subsequently recovered, officials said.
